Frosh Trip Equipment

Get Ready!

Here's what you need to know to get ready for Frosh Trip with equipment. OA provides all of the group equipment needed for your trip (including tarps, tents, stoves etc.). We can also provide personal items (backpacks and sleeping bags) as well as any specialty items you would need (like bikes for a bike trip). The detailed equipment lists below cover all that you'll need to provide (as well as what OA can provide).

If you have your own gear like a backpack or sleeping bag we strongly encourage you to bring it since we have to outfit hundreds of freshmen and leaders. See you on the trail, on the river, at camp, or on the farm!

What Do I Need to Bring?

Outdoor Action provides all of the group equipment needed for your trip. You will need to bring personal clothing items. Please check the detailed equipment list for more information. If you would like to know more about what equipment to purchase you should check out The Backpacker's Field Manual - Outdoor Action's backpacking handbook published by Random House.

Here is all the information you need to pack for your Frosh Trip. When selecting gear for the trip, remember that you’ll be in the outdoors for six days, so you’ll want to bring only those things you need to be comfortable. Leave behind what isn’t necessary—extra stuff just adds weight. This equipment list is based on 40 years of experience running Outdoor Action Trips. If you bring ALL the gear on the list and ONLY the gear on the list, you’ll be comfortable in virtually any situation you’ll encounter on Frosh Trip.
