Event Description
THIS IS AN INTEREST LIST ONLY. Winter is a special time in the mountains—sparkling snow, quiet trails, and unblemished wilderness create transformative memories unlike any other season. Over the first week of Wintersession, OA+ will be hosting a trip to New York’s Adirondack Mountains for OA Leaders to practice their cold weather recreation skills. Organized and led by OA Trips Coordinator, Demyan Hryciw, this trip will include experiential learning activities in cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter mountaineering. Lodging will be a cozy 10-person AirBnb located in the town of Lake Placid, site of Team USA’s winter Olympics training facility and the 1980 winter Olympics. Lodging, equipment, food, and admission fees are covered by OA.

Day-by-day schedule of activities:
January 13th: Packing on campus
January 14th: Drive to Adirondacks, tour of the Mountaineer
January 15th: Hike in the ADK High Peaks
January 16th: XC ski outing, tour of Lake Placid, bonfire
January 17th: Breakfast at Noonmark Diner, return to Princeton

This trip is limited to 7 fully trained undergraduate OA Leaders. THIS IS AN INTEREST LIST ONLY. If there are more people interested than spaces, we will hold a lottery to select participants on Friday, Dec. 6. If spaces open up, we will do another lottery drawing from the wait list. The purpose of the trip is to train current Leaders to lead future winter trips; as such, priority will be given to sophomores and juniors.
