Leading a group on a multi-day trip either in a base camp setting or a backcountry setting requires extensive training in outdoor camping skills, effective first aid, judgment and decision making, leadership and group facilitation. The final part of OA Leader Training is the Leader Training Trip (LTT), a 6-day trip which pulls together all of the skills you have been learning all semester.

We start with an overview of how the UTM system works, then you'll learn how to read coordinates from a map, how to plot coordinates onto a map, and we’ll finish with a few good mapping and smartphone resources.

Learn to Rock Climb!

Rock Climbing is a sport that works all of you: mind and body. It's a combination of great strength training, a burning core workout, precise gymnastic movement, and a challenging mental exercise to figure out your next move on the Wall.  OA's indoor Climbing Wall is a fantastic place to get started in this sport.

Location: Jadwin A06 Outdoor Action is offering a full Wilderness First Responder Course on campus during Intersession. WFR is heavily subsidized for OA Leaders! If you have completed leader training and led atleast 1 multi-day OA trip, the cost is only $75 Why Should You Take WFR? You travel in the backcountry as a OA Leader
