A critical part of OA leader training is competence and confidence in dealing with emergency situations. The Wilderness First Aid and CPR instructors teach the core skills of patient care and assessment, and judgement and decision making for the field treatment of emergency situations.
CPR InstructorsCPR Instructors teach the 3 hour American Heart Association CPR course to OA leaders and other members of the University community. In order to become a CPR Instructor you must complete the CPR Instructor Course.
The Princeton University Climbing Team is a recognized club sport that competes in the USA Collegiate Climbing Series (CCS), which runs January-March and includes four competitions, and we also sometimes attend non-league competitions at local gyms and with nearby universities. We belong to the Philly area region and compete against schools primarily within an hour and a half drive from Princeton. The series is evolving and growing in popularity, so stay tuned for more updates!
Creating a safe space to operate programs, both physical safety and psychological safety, requires understanding the dynamics that create unsafe situations. The Managing Safety Workshop will provide you with an understanding of how to evaluate and manage risk potential by identifying hazard factors and implementing safety factors that address increasing risk levels whether it is creating a safe environment in a physical setting like a team project, international travel or outdoor trip, or if it is dealing with the risks of institutional racism and bias.
Whenever mountain biking make sure that you are properly equipped including a helmet, water, extra tubes and repair kit, bike tools, etc. Also be aware of other people using the trail--hikers, folks on horesback, etc. By treating the land and others properly, we can all enjoy the trails.
The Institute for Advanced Study Woods and Charles H. Rogers Wildlife Refuge form a 300-acre tract of deciduous forest bounded on the east side by the wet woodlands and marsh of the Refuge. Though crisscrossed by a network of trails and a sewer right-of-way, the Woods include a small area of virgin forest and harbor an unusual number of bird species, particularly during the songbird migration seasons. For this reason, the Woods are described in many birding guides and hiking books, and birders from all over the country come to visit.
