Teamwork Across Difference: Lessons from the Outdoors and Abroad

9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Julis Romo Rabinowitz Building, Bowl A17

Join Princeton in Asia and Outdoor Action alums Clare Gallagher ’14, ultrarunner, ecologist, writer, and conservation advocate supported by Patagonia and La Sportiva, who has won several of the most prestigious ultra-endurance races in the U.S., and Josh Morris ’99, founder of Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures/The Progression Group, a critical figure in the Tham Luang cave rescue mission of the boys’ soccer team in Thailand, for a fireside chat on building teams and collaborating across difference, drawing on lessons from experiences and learnings in the outdoors and abroad. This event takes place in milestone years for both PiA, celebrating its 125th anniversary, and OA, celebrating its 50th anniversary. Coffee and pastries will be served.

Outdoor Action: 50 Years of Leadership

For the past 50 years the Outdoor Action Program has been building leaders who go on to serve in leadership positions around the world. Join us as we celebrate 50 years of Outdoor Action and discover the traits and behaviors that make leaders effective. Our panel brings together Outdoor Action alumni from diverse fields and current OA student leaders to explore what makes leaders effective and how to enhance your own leadership. Bring your own experience and questions for a robust discussion.

Outdoor Action Alumni & Friends Reception

3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Julis Romo Rabinowitz Building, 117 Forum

To 5:00 PM. Outdoor Action Leaders, participants, parents and friends of OA are invited to join the annual Reunions reception. Come meet with old friends from over almost 50 years of OA and learn about the latest changes in the Outdoor Action Program. OA director Rick Curtis ’79 will be there to give you the latest news.

Outdoor Action Leaders & Friends of OA Breakfast Reception

9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Chancellor Green Rotunda

Outdoor Action Leaders and Friends from all classes are invited to join us for our annual breakfast reunion event. Come meet with old friends and learn about the new OA+ programs during the academic year and celebrate 50 years of Outdoor Action. Continental breakfast will be served.

September 20-22 on campus

To celebrate 50 Years of Outdoor Action, we are planning a special event for all OA Leader alumni. Join us for a fun-filled weekend of events on campus where all generations of OA alumni and current student leaders can meet, mingle and share the important legacy of OA, leadership, and the outdoors. Like any OA event this will be engaging, experiential, and explorative. Any time that OA Leaders gather, it’s bound to be a fun adventure!

Weekend Activities:

  • Welcome reception & gathering
  • Alumni discussions and panels on topics like education, leadership, environment & climate change, health care, public service, and more with alumni panelists from all 50+ years of OA’s history
  • Outdoor activities in the Princeton area with friends led by current OA students - hiking, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, campus tree tour, birding, and more!
  • Dinner and keynote
  • Discussion groups on OA’s impact on campus and building OA’s next 50 years
