Students involved in Outdoor Action excel both in academics and in campus activities from varsity sports, to student government, and student organizations. The leadership skills they develop through Outdoor Action serve the larger Princeton campus and beyond as these students go on to be leaders throughout their careers. This is the clearest and most concise explanation on Youtube about the UTM coordinate system. We start with an overview of how the UTM system works, then you'll learn how to read coordinates from a map, how to plot coordinates onto a map, and we’ll finish with a few good mapping and smartphone resources. 

Knowing to basics of coordinate systems is important for anyone using a map and GPS together.

Leading a group on a multi-day trip either in a base camp setting or a backcountry setting requires extensive training in outdoor camping skills, effective first aid, judgment and decision making, leadership and group facilitation. The final part of OA Leader Training is the Leader Training Trip (LTT), a 6-day trip which pulls together all of the skills you have been learning all semester.
