Students involved in Outdoor Action excel both in academics and in campus activities from varsity sports, to student government, and student organizations. The leadership skills they develop through Outdoor Action serve the larger Princeton campus and beyond as these students go on to be leaders throughout their careers. Here are some of the awards and prizes received by Outdoor Action Leaders.
While many people think of OA as an outdoor program, its primary mission is developing student leaders. We celebrate OA's contribution to leadership with an annual panel at Reunions where alumni leaders from the program return to share how they continue to use the leadership skills they developed through OA. Join us for a panel that brings together experts on leadership from academics, business, government, the non-profit sector and current Outdoor Action student leaders to explore what makes leaders effective and how to enhance your own foundations of effective leadership.
Outdoor Action offers activities for alumni and their families on Alumni Day in February
The Lead Certification Test is required for anyone wishing to attend lead climbing open hours at the OA wall. There is a Lead Belay Test and a Lead Climbing Test. You may choose only to become Lead Belay certified or Lead Belay/Lead Climb certified. If the climber passes each test, they will be certified to lead belay and/or lead climb at the OA wall.
This test is for experienced lead climbers and lead belayers only - please only sign up if you are comfortable with those skills.
All parts of training are required for ALL Frosh Trip Leaders, unless marked "optional" or italicized.

In order to continue OA's Leave No Trace Initiative, we offer one LNT Master Educator trip and 2-3 LNT Trainer trips each year. LNT Trainers focus on developing a personal wilderness ethic and how to teach the principles of LNT to others. In addition to these responsibilities, LNT Master Educators, which receive the highest level of training offered by the Center for Outdoor Ethics, are also charged with training LNT Trainers and facilitating the development of this ethic in others.
